About the Australian Made, Australian Grown logo

The Australian Made, Australian Grown (AMAG) logo is Australia’s global product symbol. It was introduced as a certification trademark by the federal Government in 1986 and has now been used extensively in export markets around the world for over a quarter of a century.

Australia has one of the strongest nation brands in the world and having products recognised as ‘Australian’ in the marketplace generally provides a commercial advantage to Australia’s exporters. The AMAG logo readily establishes this connection.

Indeed for many SMEs the ‘Australian’ brand is the strongest available to them in export markets.

The AMAG logo:

  • helps businesses grow their sales by more effectively promoting their products as Australian, and
  • makes it easy for consumers, whether they be businesses or shoppers, to find genuine Aussie made or grown products.

More than 40% of the 1800 companies licensed to use the logo are exporters.

For the 6 years to the end of 2010 the AMAG logo was actively promoted in export markets as part of a government-funded program to enhance its performance as an export tool. Extensive research was undertaken during this project, including the finding that products carrying the logo in export markets are more likely to increase sales than Australian products not carrying the logo*.

As an outcome of the above project, the logo is now a registered certification trademark in the USA and China, and registration is pending in the Republic of Korea and Singapore.

Taking Australian products to the global marketplace

An extensive range of online promotional assets are available to AMCL licensees via the digital marketplace at www.australianmade.com.au . Each licensee has its own page to promote its business and (nominated) products.

The logo is promoted and administered by the not-for-profit Australian Made Campaign Ltd (AMCL), and it does this under a formal agreement with the federal Government. AMCL was established by the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its network of State and Territory chambers in 1999.

The AMAG logo is available to businesses of all sizes. The program is funded by license fees businesses pay to associate the logo with their nominated products. Fees are based on the aggregate sales of those products, the minimum being $300 per annum and the maximum $25K per annum (for sales above $45M), +GST.

It makes good business sense to use the AMAG logo. Licensees will not only be able to align their Aussie made and grown products with the most trusted and recognised symbol for all things Australian, but they will also be able to leverage a very powerful collective marketing effort that spans countless markets and media.
